CNC Sink EDM Services at Jade Equipment Corporation
Sink electrical discharge machining (EDM) and Wire EDM are similar in many technical aspects, but differ in precision production machining capability. Sink EDM may be considered a more conventional machining service, but when combined with computer numerical control (CNC) programs, this equipment is able to manufacture micro parts of extreme complexity and intricate detail. As a precision parts machining and contract manufacturing company since 1947, Jade Equipment Corporation is proud to have offered Sink EDM since its inception and to continue to provide this as one of many ultra high precision machining services through a consistent effort to implement the latest in available mechanical fabrication technology.
While Wire EDM uses the flow of dielectric fluid to flush away eroded particles during the machining process, Sink EDM actually submerges the work piece being machined in the dielectric fluid. Once submerged, the conductive, three-dimensional electrode removes material to form shapes of predetermined tolerances. Sink EDM was initially used to produce die openings for stamping dies, but now this technology allows Jade the ability to produce accurate geometries and tight tolerances for parts and components of varying levels of complexity and of the highest quality.
Sink EDM Results in Short Lead Time
The machinists at Jade Equipment Corporation have extensive experience in CNC electro discharge machining and understand the orbit patterns of Sink EDM. As a result, they can program complex multi-cavity setups quickly and easily, so operations begin at onset. Also, in-process inspections of the part or component allow our machinists to make program adjustments as needed to avoid faulty runs. What’s more, high-quality surface finishes can be achieved in areas difficult to polish, so post-machining services are reduced, or in some cases eliminated. All of this is done to ensure that we stay committed to your deadline every time.
Sink EDM Provides Improved Geometric Accuracy
In Sink EDM, electrode toolpaths are initially programmed through a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system, which retrieves all dimensional data directly from a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) file. Through this process, no manual input is required, which eliminates the margin of mistake due to incorrect programming. By a multi-axis range of motion, products are machined with varied shapes, indentations, and cavities with sharp inside radii. Sink EDM has come a long way from die stamping to ultra high precision machining and manufacturing. Precision manufacturer Jade Equipment
